History
The Bioscience Enterprise programme was founded in 2002, one of a family of interdisciplinary professional practise programmes that offer participants further training in science or engineering whilst also developing skills in business and management. The MBE programme is part of the Schools of Technology.
Since inception the MBE programme has aimed to play a significant role in building the bioscience economy, providing highly trained bioentrepreneurs and scientific business managers, capable of transferring knowledge and innovation stemming from advances in research for the benefit of society and underpinning a buoyant and prosperous bioindustry. Over 180 students have studied on the programme and have subsequently pursued careers in every sphere of bioscience and geographical location.
Graduates have taken up positions in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, created start-up companies and joined consultancies, the investment sector, government and international agencies. Alumni are also working in social enterprises and not for profits, as well as a multitude of other companies and organisations on practically every continent.
